The Alpbachtal is a valley in the Kitzbühel Alps. The Alpbach village is located at 1,000m above sea level on a sunny mountain and has been named “the most beautiful village in Austria” due to its pretty chocolate-box chalets and enchanting flowers. The neighbouring valleys of the Alpbach valley are Zillertal and Wildschönau.

In the rustic mountain village of Alpbach, traditional architecture compliments the beauty of the surrounding nature. Alpbach has one of the strictest building regulations in the whole of Austria, creating a harmonious Alpine atmosphere. The Alpbachtal was named Austria’s most beautiful village due to its picturesque chalets which are always beautifully decorated with colourful flowers. The valley is situated in a magnificent skiing and hiking area in the Tyrol province and is surrounded by snow peaked mountains, blooming meadows and Alpine lakes. This incredibly scenic village also offers a fantastic selection of boutique shops, cafes and restaurants and is located only a 50-minute drive from the lively city Innsbruck.
Alpbachtal can be easily reached by train, plane and car. The nearest airports are Innsbruck (79km), Salzburg (130km) and Munich (158km). The next international train station is Wörgl Bahnhof (11km).

Ski Scene
As part of the ‘Ski Juwel Wildschönau – Alpbachtal’, this resort has a total of 97km of skiing on offer, comprising of 30km of blue, 54km of red and 13km of black pistes as well as 16km of marked ski routes. On top of this, the Ski Juwel Alptachtal Wildschönau offers a snow park and a ski race area. For those who cannot get enough of skiing, in the Wildschönau it is also possible to go skiing at night.
The Alpbach offers 20km of immaculate cross-country skiing trails in scenic surroundings, untracked powder slopes for ski tourers and marked winter hiking trails. Other popular winter activities in the area include tobogganing and paragliding. The picture postcard impressions seen on a winter walk through Alpbach will always remain in one’s memory.
Also, the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser is easily accessible from Hopfgarten. The Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser has additional 244km of pistes, comprising of 114km of blue pistes, 120km of red pistes and 10km of black pistes. On top of this, the Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser is one of the largest and most modern ski resorts in the world. With 90 modern lifts, three toboggan runs and fun parks, the resort is perfect for beginners, families with young children as well as for more advanced skiers.

The Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau, with its four mountains and two valleys, is not only one of the largest and most family-friendly ski areas in Tyrol, there is also a lot to experience here in summer. If you want to enjoy a summer in pure nature, discover the untouched landscape in the Alpbachtal and enjoy a summer full of cultural, sporting and culinary experiences.
The Alpbachtal-Wildschönau is an insider tip for exciting mountain bike tours. Whether you opt for a traditional mountain bike or an electric set of wheels, exploring the Wildschönauer pastures and mountains is always an experience to remember. The lifts are also open all summer and bring you and your bike up the mountain, from where you can enjoy 780km of marked cycle paths and enjoy the descent. 900 kilometers of well-maintained hiking trails also cover this high valley.
The Alpbachtal is also well-known as a child-friendly holiday destination. There is a summer toboggan run, a great variety of family walks or diverse playgrounds to ensure active holidays for kids. There are also specialised riding programs for children and an open-air pool with plenty of activities.
