What We Love About Hinterthal

Hinterthal is a beautiful Alpine village set between Maria Alm and Dienten in the heart of Austria’s Salzburg province. These villages are in a particularly beautiful part of Austria with lush pastures and winding roads set against the backdrop of the Hochkonig mountain range.

Together with Hintermoos these villages form the Hochkonig Winter Kingdom ski area. Here you can find 120km of groomed pistes and a modern, extensive lift network. The resort is also part of the vast Amadé ski region with 760km of skiing all on one pass.

There are many romantic restaurants and mountain huts to enjoy too. Our ski property for sale in Hinterthal also has access to some brilliant summertime activities including great hiking, biking and swimming and four challenging golf clubs are also within easy reach. The three villages offer plenty of shops, restaurants and hotels. Hinterthal is also ideally located for an alpine getaway being only 60 minutes from Salzburg airport and 2 hours from Innsbruck airport.

Ski Scene

Hinterthal is home to a wide range of skiing with 120km of pistes to explore across the “Hochkönig Winterreich” area. It sits amongst a beautiful mountain scenery and alongside the 2,941m peak of Hochkönig. There is guaranteed snow across the resort, with 52km of blue runs, 41km of red runs, and 27km of black pistes.

Thanks to reliable snowfall, ski conditions are great from early December to April. The modern lift network provides easy access across the pistes and Hinterthal also offers high quality cross-country and off piste skiing, as well as snowboarding and tobogganing!

Hinterthal is part of the vast Ski Amade ski region which allows for 760km of skiing on one pass. Other more relaxing winter activities include horse-drawn sleigh rides and winter hiking.

Summer Fun

Hinterthal offers fantastic hiking and biking trails, a number of golf courses plus several lakes where you can cool off on hot summer days. There are over 250km of biking trails across the mountains and you can either explore these on mountain or electric bikes. You can even take your bike up the mountainsides in some of the cable cars. This means that you can freewheel back down, whilst stopping off at one of the many Alpine huts for refreshments along the way. The region is home to eight challenging golf courses within an hours drive, including the 18-hole Urslautal golf course (10 minutes away).

Other summer activities in the area include tennis, horse riding, paragliding, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, caving and sightseeing flights.
