One of Austria’s oldest and most charming landscapes, Katschberg lies nestled between both the Carinthian and Salzburg provinces. Katschberg has become synonymous with health and well-being. This is due to its low-allergen air, local spas and plethora of winter and summer activities. The resort is also famously family-friendly. This is due to a special children’s adventure world, child-friendly ski lifts and specialised ski schools. Just 25 minutes away lies the small market town of Mauterndorf. This historic town straddles the Taurach river and offers 50km of skiing. Further to this, nearby Obertauern offers a further 100km. In the other direction lies the quaint villages of St Martin and St Margarthen. Only six minutes apart, these villages are at the heart of the Lungau ski region. Together they offer over 100km of skiing between them!

Katschberg is only 80 minutes from Klagenfurt airport and 1 hour 45 minutes from Salzburg airport.

Ski Scene

Katschberg is located at the heart of the Lungau ski region which offers a total of 250km of pistes across the Grosseck-Speiereck, Katschberg-Aineck and Fanningberg slopes. With 111km of blue pistes, 111km of red pistes and a further 28km of more challenging black pistes, there are lots of perfectly groomed slopes on the doorstep.

The Katschberg ski area is praised for its uncrowded pistes and minimal lift queues, making it the perfect place to escape the crowds. The ski runs are perfectly suited to every ability and Katschberg itself has a fantastic ski school. For even more skiing, the snow-sure resort of Obertauern is just 40 minutes away and serves up a further 100km of pistes. This high altitude resort offers 61km of blue slopes, 35km of reds and 4km of black piste plus 26 ski lifts. Another bonus is that the LUNGO ski pass covers the Obertaurn and the Katschberg pistes too, so with just one ski pass you can access a wide range of slopes.

Obertauern is also home to a lively après-ski scene, with 34 restaurants, 30 ski huts, 11 bars and four discos. For more relaxed après-ski Katschberg has a variety of rustic ski huts with sunny terraces and a few restaurants and bars to try out.

Summer Fun

Golfers are well catered for too with an 18-hole tournament golf course just fifteen minutes from Katschberg. The par-72 Lungau-Katschberg course has a 9-hole practice course and a 280m driving range plus a wonderful clubhouse and restaurant. Four further golf courses are within easy reach.
