The Mölltal Glacier is located in Austria’s Cartintha province. With skiing up to an incredibly high altitude of 3,112 metres, excellent snow conditions are a given. It is not a surprise that the Austrian National Team use the glacier for their summer and autumn training.

What We Love About the Mölltal Glacier
Sitting at an altitude of over 3000 meters, you really feel on top of the world in the Mölltal Glacier ski region and you can ski virtually all-year round. This small ski region has a few restaurants, shops, an incredibly pretty scenery and it feels like a private ski resort. Mölltal is extremely family friendly, and offers about 17km of glacier skiing.
Mölltal is easily reachable within 1 hour 20 minutes from Klagenfurt airport and within 2 hours from Salzburg airport.

Ski Scene
The Mölltal Glacier is Carintha’s only year-round ski area and it is the most snow sure region in Austria. The ski area is reached by the Glestcher Express which is a quick funicular ride to the slopes.
With a wide range of easy, moderate and difficult ski pistes, the wide glacier slopes are perfect for beginners as well as more advanced skiers. The Molltal Glacier offers a fabulous variety of skiing from secluded powder snow slopes to firm glacier runs.
The Ankogel ski region is just a 25 min drive, offering a further 13km of groomed pistes. Although it is a small ski area, it is very popular with its great atmosphere of tradition and beautiful Alpine views. The area is suitable for passionate skiers and families with children. The winter season usually begins in mid-December and lasts until spring.

Summer fun
In summertime the Mölltal Glacier is a wonderful destination with plenty of activities on offer. The Mölltal Glacier is especially well known and popular for summer skiing. As Carinthia’s only glacier ski area, it offers the only possibility for year-round skiing. International ski associations and training clubs use the Mölltal Glacier for their training. This is also possible due to the top snow conditions and continuous snowmaking on all training pistes.
For hiking enthusiasts, the high trails throughout the Hohe Tauern range are great outings for families during the warmer months. The region is also perfect for cycling with many mountain bike trails with breath-taking views. For those who prefer a gentler cycle, it is possie to hire an E-bike. For water sports fans, there are a range of actives, from rafting, kayaking or tubing down the River Möll.
