What We Love About Obergurgl

Obergurgl is a beautiful village set at one of the highest points in the desirable Tyrol province of Austria. Oburgurgl is famous for its fantastic snow fall record and high altitude of up to 3028m. This is why it is so often called ‘The Diamond in the Alps’.

Obergurgl is an upmarket village that boasts lots of shopping and entertainment to suit year-round visits. It is also one of the first villages to introduce pedestrian zones and ban night traffic to ensure a high quality of life. Our ski property for sale in Obergurgl benefit from year-round peace and tranquillity. The village is situated directly next to the Rosskar ski lift and is surrounded by 108km of fantastic ski slopes with a panorama gondola connecting the villages of Obergurgl and Hochgurgl.

Obergurgl is situated in the same valley as Sölden and is only 80 minutes from Innsbruck airport.

Ski Scene

Obergurgl and Hochgurgl offer 112km of snow sure pistes between them. There are 60km of blue runs, 33km of red and 19km of black with additional 5km of marked ski routes. The region has 24 ultra-modern lifts, and every Tuesday evening you can zoom down the fantastic floodlit slopes before watching the Obergurgl ski-school’s impressive torch-light descent. There are also other winter activities available, such as 12km of cross country ski trails, a further 12km of winter walking trails, ice-skating and curling.

Just 15 minutes down the road from Obergurgl is the top ski resort of Sölden. This is Austria’s only ski area with three mountains above 3,000m which are all accessible by lifts or gondolas. Nestled between Gaislachkogl (3,058m), Tiefenbachkogl (3,250m), and Schwarze Schneide (3,340m) lies 143km of perfectly groomed slopes, state-of-the-art ski lifts and gondolas. Reaching an altitude of over 3,250m Sölden boasts glacier skiing and some challenging vertical and long runs. It is even possible to ski from the top of the glacier 12km down to the bottom of town without the need for lifts.

Sölden’s signature ski journey is called the Big-3 Rally which is a circuit entailing 50km of skiing and 10,000m of vertical which encompasses three spectacular viewing platforms. The route takes approximately four hours for intermediate skiers to complete.

Summer Fun

Obergurgl is a fantastic place for winter activities, but it is in the summer that the scenery really comes into its own. We suggest taking the Hohe Mut walkers’ gondola lift up to one of Austria’s most beautiful mountains and enjoy the outstanding view of 21 peaks and numerous glaciers.

There are countless walking and hiking opportunities waiting for you, be it a family walk, a glacier tour or a mountain ascent. If you are looking for a change, there are a large range of bike trails too, from leisurely paths in the valley to more challenging single-tracks in the Ötztal mountains.

Why not try some golf in the new 700mindoor Golf Adventure World which has realistic training conditions, ultra-modern simulators and a large putting green. Alternatively, enjoy some riding on a beautiful Haflinger Horse which are famous in this region.
